Is the wine included for all participants?

Selected Peruvian wine is included for adults. Groups with minors receive artisan sodas or additional natural juice at no extra cost. Inform us at booking if your group does not consume alcohol — the wine can be replaced with sparkling grape juice.

Are the llamas guaranteed to appear during the picnic?

Llamas and alpacas live freely in the Maras field. They are not in an enclosure or on a timed schedule. In the vast majority of visits (well over 90%), the animals approach the picnic tent at some point during the 2-hour lunch window. Physical contact with the animals is not guaranteed — the guide manages interactions to keep both guests and animals comfortable. Presence in the field during the visit is the consistent norm.

Can I combine this picnic with a Maras Salt Mines visit on the same day?

Yes. The most practical combination: Maras Salt Mines in the morning (~09:00–11:00), picnic from 11:30. The two locations are 5 minutes apart. Tell us when booking and we will coordinate transport to avoid a return to Cusco and back.

Can the menu be adapted for dietary restrictions?

Yes. The standard menu is already vegetarian (no meat). For vegan guests: cheese removed, replaced with additional fruits, nuts, avocado and a plant-based spread. For gluten-free guests: sourdough bread replaced with Andean corn bread or quinoa crackers. For nut allergies: dried fruit and nut mix modified. Indicate all dietary requirements at the time of booking.

Is this tour suitable for people who get altitude sickness?

Maras is at 3,380 m — slightly below Cusco city (3,400 m). If you are comfortable in Cusco, you will be comfortable in Maras. The tour involves minimal physical activity (walk from van to tent, 2–3 minutes) and the pace is entirely relaxed. No exertion is required. Coca tea is available throughout the experience and is the most effective natural altitude remedy.

Why is the picnic at Maras and not elsewhere in the Sacred Valley?

Maras is selected because of the combination of open viewshed (nothing blocking the Verónica glacier view), low foot traffic (not a main tourist stop like Pisac or Ollantaytambo), and proximity to the Maras Salt Mines (easiest combination logistics).
