How long is the full tour from Cusco?
The complete tour is approximately 14 hours door-to-door: hotel pick-up at 04:30 hrs, return to Cusco at ~18:30 hrs. Of those 14 hours, approximately 3.5 hours are spent at altitude (Soraypampa + hike + lake), 1.5 hours at Mollepata (breakfast and lunch), and the remainder in transport.

Can I rent a horse for the Humantay Lake hike?
Yes. Horses are available at the Soraypampa trailhead for approximately S/. 90 PEN per person for the ascent only, paid directly to local community families. Horses are not available for the descent — the return is always on foot. Horse rental is not included in the tour price.

They are very different experiences. Humantay Lake (4,200 m) features a turquoise glacial lake with an easy-moderate 2.5 km hike — ideal for families and first-time high-altitude hikers. What is the best season to visit Humantay Lake?
May through October (dry season) delivers the clearest skies and most intense turquoise color. June and July are peak international season with excellent conditions. September and October offer the same quality with slightly fewer crowds. November through April is rainy season — tours operate, but trails can be muddy and views may be partially obscured by mist.
